Scrambled Maps has received a major upgrade that we are calling Scrambled World - a unified platform that integrates both the classic square-based Scrambled Maps and the more challenging hexagonal Scrambled Hex Maps into one comprehensive gaming experience.

This new global interface serves as your central hub for all things Scrambled Maps, offering several exciting features:

Progress Tracking: The new world map interface provides a visual representation of your completed cities, with correctly unscrambled locations marked in green. Sign in with your Google account to have your progress automatically synchronized across all your devices, ensuring you never lose track of your achievements.

Customizable Objectives: Focus your puzzle-solving journey by setting specific objectives. Choose to master all cities within a particular country or, for U.S. players, concentrate on completing cities within a specific state. This feature helps create more structured and meaningful gameplay sessions.

Enhanced City Selection: Finding your next challenge is easier than ever with multiple options: - Use the search function to locate specific cities - Click anywhere on the world map to discover nearby locations - Let the random city selector surprise you with an unexpected destination - Follow the featured city of the day for a guided experience

Flexible Game Settings: Switch freely between the classic square grid and hexagonal layouts, with customizable grid sizes to match your skill level or preference. The square grid offers a more approachable experience for mobile users, while the hexagonal variant provides an extra challenge for desktop players.

Explore mode: After completing a game switch to Explore mode to use an interactive map to view map detail in and around the game area.

As part of this update, we've streamlined our city database from 30,000 to 11,000 locations, focusing on major population centres and historically significant places. This optimization improves loading times and overall performance while maintaining a diverse selection of global destinations.

Looking ahead, we have exciting plans for future updates, including the ability to create custom puzzles for any location on Earth - and perhaps even beyond!
