Yamoussoukro, Côte d'Ivoire

Yamoussoukro is the political capital of Côte d'Ivoire, located approximately 240 kilometers northwest of Abidjan. It is situated in the central part of the country, within the regional authority of Lacs. Established as the capital in 1983, Yamoussoukro replaced Abidjan, which remains the country's economic heart. The city is known for its significant political and administrative landmarks, including the Presidential Palace and the National Basilica of Our Lady of Peace, which is one of the largest churches in the world. Designed by the Italian architect Pierre Cardinal, the basilica is an iconic structure, resembling St. Peter's Basilica in Vatican City, and serves as a symbol of the city's prominence in the country's cultural and religious landscape.

Yamoussoukro boasts a tropical savanna climate, characterized by distinct wet and dry seasons. The city is rich in agricultural resources, primarily due to its fertile lands, which support the cultivation of crops like yams, cassava, and cocoa.
